In the heart of Hokitika. 1min to the beach and river. 5mins walk to bars, restaurants, theatre and shops. An old, historic little cottage full of character and charm. A typical Kiwi bach – not modern, but definitely interesting! The perfect spot to holiday beside the beach and still be right in the heart of town.

Our cottage is nearly 100 years old. It’s a traditional New Zealand wooden bungalow.
If you want a traditional Kiwi cottage by the sea where beach walks and sunsets are valued, this could be just what you are looking for. This house is quirky, interesting and fun! We offer a chance for guests to stay somewhere a little different, experience some West Coast history and chill out by the sea with a glass of wine and some great local food.
NOTE: The house can sleep 9 comfortably – the bedrooms are spacious – but there is only 1 bathroom.
Plenty of parking.
The cosy lounge/dinning area is small but functional with new woodburner for heating in winter.
There is a large backyard suitable for BBQs and outdoor dining.
It is fully fenced.
Books and toys provided for children.
Hokitika is the best place to base yourself while exploring the West Coast. You can drive to all the major attractions in a day easily. Many of our guests do day trips to Franz Josef glacier, Punakaiki Pancake Rocks and the Hokitika Gorge. It is also a great place to stay if you are cycling the West Coast Wilderness Trail.
Crooked Mile Cottage has three spacious bedrooms.
Bedroom 1 sleeps four. There is a queen bed and a set of bunks.
Bedroom 2 sleeps two. There are two single beds.
Bedroom 3 sleeps two (with the possibility of sleeping an extra person on the single floor bed.) There is one queen bed. Most beds have electric blankets in winter.
All linen and towels are supplied. Basic toiletries i.e toilet paper & soap and cooking essentials such as oil, salt pepper etc are supplied also.
The kitchen has all pots, pans, cutlery, plates and cleaning supplies. Note: there is no dishwasher.
The house is cleaned and prepared prior to guests arrival. Please leave the house as you found it – clean and tidy.
November to April is the most popular time to visit Hokitika. The weather is usually warm with not as much rain. May through to September is not as busy and the weather is a lot cooler with more rain – the upside is there are far less people at local tourist attractions.
